I’d thought Chad Fellows was one of those cute, golden retriever types: easygoing, friendly, and dependable. I’d thought he was safe. 

I was wrong.  

In a moment of sheer, drunken madness, I confessed my deepest, darkest secrets, and now the time has come to convince Chad that all my clutching and crying meant nothing. I’ve avoided him for months, and he’s been radio silent. I’m worried for nothing. A man like Chad has better options than a repressed, unresponsive woman who doesn’t even want to be seen. 

He could have any woman he wants. Why would he waste his time on me?

I’d thought Ruby Stiles, with her love of bad-boy musicians who don’t treat her the way she deserves, wasn’t my type. 

I was wrong. 

She’s nothing I want in a woman. She’s messy, complicated, and requires attention I don’t want to give. But none of that seems to matter since the night she opened herself up to me and trembled in my arms, lost and vulnerable. There are a million reasons to stay away, but I already know I’m not going to do that.  I need to see the woman buried beneath the shame.  Need to be the man to tear down her walls and empower her to be the woman she’s meant to be.
