Welcome to my Advanced Reader Program! I’m excited you’ve decided to join me. Before we get into the nitty-gritty details I wanted to let you know how thankful and honored I am that you are willing to take time from your busy life to support my writing career. I'm hugely grateful to have such amazing and supportive readers and I never take it for granted. So thank you! I hope to repay you by providing you with stories you will love and treasure for years to come. I want to take a few minutes to welcome you and tell you what you can expect by being a member. After I've given you all the intel, if you decide you're not interested, no problem! You can opt out at any time, for any reason, no questions asked! So let's start by answering a few questions. I tried to anticipate as many questions as I could think of, so I apologize for the length of the email. 🙂
What is the Advanced Reader Program? Simply put, as a member of this group you will be given the opportunity to read my books first, usually 4-6 weeks in advance. By accepting an advanced copy you will pinky swear the following:
- Agree not to share the ARC with anyone or distribute for your own financial gain
- Post an honest, spoiler free review to Amazon on release day
- If you have other accounts, post the review to one other site (iTunes, B&N, Kobo, LibraryThing, Goodreads, Blog)
- Email me, or my assistant Kim, permalinks to reviews (contact information provided below)
Why Am I giving you this opportunity?
Reviews posted to Amazon and other sites have a huge impact on my book's visibility. Did you know you must have a minimum of 10 reviews and a rating of 4+ to promote your books on some promo sites? That after 50+ reviews Amazon begins to promote your book on their site? For example their “if you like this, try this section”. You, as a reader, are my biggest voice and have the power to share my books with others.
When will I get emails from you? I will only email you when I have an ARC opportunity for you.
What about your traditionally published books? So, here's the deal. My Something New series is published through Kensington and I have a lot less control over what I can give readers. But I will give away copies to the group as I receive them from the publisher. We will probably do this by having you submit your name and then choose the names via Random.org. We will also provide you the Netgalley link so that you can request an ARC. However, I cannot guarantee you will be approved by Kensington. How will I get my ARC for your indie books?
We will be using a very reader friendly service called Bookfunnel. We chose this service because it has a fantastic user interface, you can get the books directly sent to your device, and they will assist you with any problems you have. We've heard nothing but great things about them and expect you will be very happy! But if you're not, I trust you'll let us know. Why do you want to see my review? There are a couple of reasons: First and foremost if you're a blogger or posting your review to your site we want to promote you. When we receive your review we can post it on all our social media sites which will lead to a mutually beneficial, and lasting relationship. I also like to post reviews I find particularly funny or interesting to allow all my readers to enjoy the fun.
Also, well, I want to see if you're participating. I'm thrilled to give away as many copies of my books as I possibly can, but if you're not engaged and active we'll probably send you a polite, off list email asking if everything is okay. If we still don't get a response, we're going to wish you all the happiness in the world and delete you from the group.
What if I hate the book and don't want to post the review? Hey, no worries, it happens! I totally understand that you're not going to love every book I write and that's okay. You are, of course, always welcome to post the review, but if you really don't want to, feel free to skip it this time. If you're concerned about it, send me an email letting me know. We'll high five, virtually hug, and hope you like the next one better.
How do I send the review? It's easy! You can reply to any one of my emails and copy and paste the link. But here's my assistant, Kim's, and my contact info:
Jen's email: email@example.com
Facebook: Jennifer Dawson Author Page (share link or message)
Web Contact: Contact Me Form
What if I don't want to participate? No problem! You can opt out at the bottom of this email. Preferably, you can hit the reply and tell me to remove you and I'll delete you ASAP. Mailchimp can get a little weird if you start to get a lot of unsubscribers. NOTE: You will still remain a newsletter subscriber.
I hope you're as excited as I am to begin working together. If you have any other questions please let me know and I'll be happy to answer them. Warmly,
