In Unraveled, I introduced Brandon's newest venture, The Lair. A respectable, high end club that's the hottest ticket in town, and also happens hosts the occasional sex party. Brandon's all about equal opportunity, because god, he can't go too straight. What you might not know is that there is a the real life inspiration behind the club.
It all started one summer's night. My husband and I try and go out once a month without the kids, sometimes we go to a movie or a favorite restaurant, but sometimes we decide to try something new and totally different. I was in the mood for fun and adventure so I got out the trusty internet and got Googling. Eventually, I ran across this place called The Office, which is part of a restaurant called The Aviary. Once I heard you had to text a secret number to get a reservation I was determined to get in. I texted at 10:00 AM… I finally heard back at 6:30 PM. We'd scored two seats at the bar for later that night.
After our dinner, we headed on over, gave our name to a person with a list. We were brought into corridor, met by a guy who led us down a backstairs and into a locked room. There we greeted with a modern day speak easy crossed with a club house.
Everything was rich leather, cozy seating…
We sat down at the bar, but instead of ordering off a drink menu the bartender asked us our drinking preferences…
There were a million different bottles of to create individual cocktails based off your tastes.
We had all sorts of interesting drinks that night…the one below looks like a mimosa but it was infused with things like basil and it was my favorite of the night.
Here's a selfie of my husband and I before we opened the wax sealed check….
He wasn't quite as happy after he opened it, but look at how pretty it is!
It was a fun, memorable experience I'm looking forward to repeating sometime soon. And by the way, if you ever get there, the foie gras snickers bar is to die for!
I hope you enjoyed seeing how real life transforms into inspiration. Brandon's club is bigger and grander, but just as much fun, and I'm looking forward to writing some fun excursions there in the future.
So stay tuned!
